In the midst of all the grumbling about the election, why do I hear some blasting their fears, worries and concerns from their soapbox, as if that will do any good at all?
As Christians, we are to respect our authority, but we are to vote as God guides us, not based on our own opinions. SO, whether or not we are in agreement with the views and ideas of the man who is now set to be the next president of the United States of America, all we can do is pray for God to give him wisdom & guidance and that he will follow God, turning to Him for divine leadership in all decisions being made from the most powerful seat in the world – the seat of the president of the United States of America.
Many are saying that Obama’s winning is the beginning of the revelation of the anti-Christ; I am not in a position to speak about that, but I can say this: God gave freewill to all humans, right? Well, I believe that we can POSTPONE things like the coming of the anti-Christ and even Christ’s second coming, but only through prayer and obedience to God.
Now then, in pursuit of maintaining a perfectly balanced political representation on this blog, I will speak theoretically, based on what I am hearing from those around me…If Obama is not the candidate that God has chosen for this position, why did he win? If God truly did not desire for this man to become our next president, then why on earth would God allow him to do just that? By God giving us free will and the freedom to ultimately choose our own destiny based on our decision, He has given us the power to affect the world. If God wanted another candidate to become president, this means that Christians did not fully listen to God and follow His leading in their voting. If everyone would have followed the leading of God in voting, the candidate that God wanted to become president would have won. If the wrong man won, the way I look at it is, God is sitting up in heaven looking down and saying, “If that’s what you really want…If you really want him as your president, FINE.” So, that said, we need to stop whining if we are disappointed about the election, because God knows who is going to win before it happens and really, we are the ones who decided who would win.
This is basically how it will play out when the rapture of God’s children takes place. God always allows us to have and exercise our free will, but He also allows us to live in the mess we’ve made and deal with the consequences of our decisions, but he always sends a warning. What happened in the days of Noah? The people were being dumb, doing bad things, so God said, “Alright then, you’ve made these choices and you can do that, but if you don’t straighten up I’m gonna kill you.” They didn’t listen, so God drowned them all except Noah’s family, who were obedient to God. What went on in Sodom & Gomorrah? The people were being creepers and again, God let His people know ahead of time that the whole place was gonna be toast if they didn’t quit being stupid, BUT, the creepers kept on creepin’ and *POOF* God toasted them.
I’m tellin’ you, each day we are getting closer and closer to the end of the world and everyday things are lining up for God’s plan to take place. The looser we get in our standards, the looser we get in our beliefs and our morals and our decisions, the further away we drift from God and the less we listen to His voice – the closer we get to the end. It’s going to go down just like it did in the stories mentioned above; God is going to say, “Okay, this is the world you have created for yourselves; these are the decisions YOU have made and I have honored your freedom of choice. So now, you can just live in the mess you have made for yourselves. You’re free to live in the chaos and turmoil you have brought upon yourselves and MY earth because that is what you chose; that is what YOU wanted.” Then, His people that have remained obedient and faithful to HIM will be taken out from the scum and filth of this world.
To be honest, I don’t want to die now. I don’t want to be raptured away right now. Although I may not want to stay here and experience the rapid decay and decline of this nation’s standards and morals, I refuse to pray for Jesus to hurry up and come because that is a selfish prayer to pray. There are millions upon millions of unsaved souls that will, without someone telling them about Jesus, be lost forever when the end time does come, and for me to ask to be removed from this mess and plucked out – that is just absurd. In all things, we should pray the hardest prayer of all – we should pray for God’s will to be done. After all, in the Lord’s Prayer where we are given a format to apply to all of our prayers, Jesus says to the Father, “Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.” In all things we should not request the hand of God to swoop down and rip us out of here, but we should ask Him to let His will be done in our lives, no matter what the cost.
I am far more willing to lose my life telling someone about Jesus in some unreached part of the world than to die in bed as a shrivelled-up, old man! So, as the end of the world draws increasingly nearer, join with me and pray this prayer:
“Father, I lift up the United State of America to you. I lift up President Bush, as well as our soon-to-be president, Barack Obama. I ask for wisdom and guidance for both of them in their decisions and their daily walks with you. I pray that your will is done in this nation, this world and in my life. I ask that you give me opportunities every day to lead more people to you and teach them about your love. I thank you for all that you are doing in the world and I know that everything is in your hands and not one thing happens without you knowing about it. Bless our nation, our leadership, and your people this day and always - in Jesus’ name – AMEN.”
